MARK MANNUCCI
Mark is a filmmaker who has produced and directed films and shows for PBS, HBO, National Geographic, Discovery and Disney. At PBS station WNET in New York, Mannucci was the co-creator of the Emmy and Peabody award winning City Life and Egg the Arts Show. Mannucci’s films include five films he made for National Geographic with Jon Halperin as EP. To Catch A Smuggler, was one of the Channel’s highest rated shows. Inside Death Row, a film about the last days of three condemned men in Texas, won a Television Academy Honor for Television with a Conscience. Mannucci and Halperin decided to continue their collaboration by founding Room 608 in the spring of 2012. Mannucci preps for big shoots by watching West Side Story, Dog Day Afternoon and a Hard Days Night.
Elizabeth Westrate
Elizabeth Westrate is a filmmaker with over twenty years of production experience, leading complex international projects for a broad range of clients. Her work has been broadcast widely on PBS, HBO, Amazon, NBC, Sundance Channel, Public Radio International and at major film festivals and museums. For Room 608, Westrate was Series Producer on I CONTAIN MULTITUDES, a twelve part science series for PBS Digital about the microbial world. Westrate was Director and Producer of the critically acclaimed documentary A FAMILY UNDERTAKING (PBS/POV), among many other films. She was Series Producer of thirty episodes of the innovative PBS series, E2: E2 DESIGN, E2 ENERGY and E2 TRANSPORT, served as Producer of the upcoming film ANONYMOUS SISTER and Line Producer for high-profile documentary projects such as THE HUMAN FACTOR by Dror Moreh, AMERICAN JAIL by Roger Ross Williams for CNN, and multiple projects with Thom Zimny for BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and Thrill Hill. Westrate enjoys working with Mark Mannucci and Jon Halperin, even during long Zoom meetings, which says a lot about how much she genuinely likes them.
ALEX RICCIARDI
Alex has edited, produced and written films and TV shows for PBS, Sony Pictures Classics, Netflix, NatGeo and Nickelodeon. The documentary Jodorowsky’s Dune, which he produced and edited, was shortlisted for Best Documentary at the 2014 Academy Awards, and landed spots on EW and Time Magazine’s Top 10 films of the year lists. For Room 608, Alex has worked in various producing and editorial roles on projects which include the Emmy-winning PBS Year in Space films, American Masters: Decoding Watson, and Netflix’s Headspace: Guide to Meditation.
Laura Borgaard Jespersen
Laura joined the team in 2017 and has co-produced several series with Room 608 including Lore for Amazon Studios and I Contain Multitudes for PBS Digital and Tangled Bank. She is currently co-producing a documentary film about Anthony Fauci for PBS American Masters. Laura has worked for some of the biggest in the industry including Turner, NBC, Pixar, and A24. Laura has a background in print journalism, both newspaper and magazine, and is originally from Denmark.
Mona Iskander
Mona Iskander is a producer and on-air correspondent of long-form news magazines and documentary series. Her work has appeared on PBS, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, History Channel and Netflix. Her projects have taken her from the post-revolution streets of Cairo to remote islands in the South Pacific threatened by climate change. Her most recent project with ROOM 608 is the Netflix series: Headspace Guide to Meditation and Sleep. She is a founding board member of the Arab and Middle Eastern Journalists Association and is a graduate of the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism.
Jon Halperin
Jon is an Emmy award-winning director and producer and a former television executive. He has made films and series for Netflix, Amazon, PBS, Vox, The Atlantic, National Geographic, WORLD, and ITVS. His work has screened in festivals around the world. When not making films and television, he races bikes or goes in search of the perfect burrito with his family. His first screenplay will go into production next year.
